Austin is a large city and the capital of the state of Texas, located in the southern part of the US. Despite being the capital city, Austin is only the 4th largest city of the state, after Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. The city is situated on the banks of the Colorado River and it is a relatively new one, established in the middle of the 19th century. Austin is a center of culture and has a very rich cultural life, with a large number of theaters, museums, galleries, and other establishments located there. The University of Texas at Austin with its seven museums and seventeen libraries, is a very large public research university and was founded in 1883. The city is an important technology and business center, home to the regional offices or headquarters of companies such as 3M, Amazon, Google, Apple, IBM, Intel, Oracle, etc.

Austin is famous for its numerous parks and green zones thus it can be considered a city for recreation. Local cuisine is famous for its varied dishes and especially its beer since a large number of immigrants living in Austin are from Germany, Czechia, and Austria.
